What makes virgin olive oil ';virgin?';?

Olive oil is a fruit oil obtained from the olive and ';virgin'; olive oil means the oil was produced by the use of physical means (by pressing) and no chemical treatment - it is a pure oil. Virgin olive oil has an acidity less than 2%, a good natural taste and there can be no refined oil in virgin olive oil - ';refined oil'; means that although the essence is similar, the taste and acidity were chemically produced.

Extra-virgin olive oil comes from ';cold pressing'; of the olives, contains no more than 0.8% acidity, and is judged to have a superior taste and is the purest olive oil (heat changes the acidity %26amp; taste). There can be no refined oil in extra-virgin olive oil.

The word ';virgin'; refers to the grade and the purity of the oil in regard to acidity and taste and means that it has not been chemically altered. What makes virgin olive oil ';virgin?';?

It is in the way they press the olives thats where the virgin comes in!!!!!!!!!!
