Olive Oil or Vegetable Oil?

Can I substitute vegetable oil for olive oil when baking a cake?Olive Oil or Vegetable Oil?
Yes, you can substitute olive oil in baking BUT you should be using the ';extra light.'; This is not light as in calories but only in flavor. The stronger flavored olive oils would probably ruin the flavor of your delicate bakery.

My husband is on low cholesterol and I use the extra light olive oil regularly for everything from baking to frying eggs. You cannot tell that it's olive oil.Olive Oil or Vegetable Oil?
I wouldn't try it I don't think it would taste very good at all.
Yes.
YES

no! it taste funny. olive oil is more versatile.
yes
You can but in my experience it can give the cake a stronger, slightly rancid taste. Depends on the flavor of the cake I suppose.
If you want your cake to taste like olives! Olive oil has it's own unique flavor.
Sure. Next time you bake a cake, you can try this one. 7 Up pound cake. Also a fun site on cooking.
No way.......use olive oil for savory, not sweet.
yes
Olive oil is not ideal for baking or cooking, unless a something like a stir fry. The problem with cooking with olive oil is that it is extremely sensitive to heat. If you are tryng to find a healthy alternative to regular vegetable oil, try canola.
